Food Review: Royal Caribbean Jamaican Patties

Hello Sweeties!

When someone says Jamaican, you think Reggae music and Bob Marley.  Last Sunday my BBF Chet and I tried some Jamaican, Jamaican food that is,  at Market Market, it’s the Royal Caribbean Jamaican Patties.

A Jamaican patty is a flaky pastry filled with seasoned ground beef, chicken, lamb, vegetables, and cheese.   In Jamaica, the patty is often eaten as a full meal, especially when paired with coco bread. It reminds me of our empanada.

Located at the 5th Floor of Market Market near the Amusement Center and Cinema. The shop is brightly lit with nice bright color coded tables and chairs in popping colors of red, green, yellow and orange.

Looking at the menu, you can tell that the prices are very affordable. Chet and I wanted so much to try the vegetarian patties but alas they were unavailable. So we opted for their classic menu.

On with the food, we tried out the following:

Cheese Burst Supreme (58php) ground beef, melted cheese and tomato gravy, was just ok, although she would have liked that it had more cheese. Beef Grenada (45php) Extra Hot with spicy beef and a lot of chili, I was waiting for this to burn my mouth but I still needed to put a generous amount of hot sauce, but this could be just me and my penchant for extra spicy food.  We also tried their Tuna Terrific (48php) that is perfect for the semi-vegetarians. The Baked Mac (55php) was a disappointment, the pasta was just reheated and not al dente, the sauce almost non existent , the cheese not as generous as I would like. What we did like are the signature teas,  Four Seasons and Premium Iced Tea  (58php) that is delicious and frothy, reminds me of the 7/11 Slurpee.

Other than the patties, you can opt to order their cookies, shakes and ice cream.

I really liked that concept of this shop, the bright colors within, the place is clean and the staff smiling and friendly. It is the perfect place to get the spicy fix you need if you are unable to have a sit down meal you can opt to have take away instead.

Until next time Sweeties!
