I have said time and time and that I am not really a fan of summer, I hate the heat and everything that comes with it. But when you are a Mom of active kids who like to play under the sun, you have to make sure that they are protected.

I don`t like using sun screen, because I find sunscreens/sunblocks too cumbersome to apply and since it is summer, applying any form of cream feels so sticky and iky. This is one reason why I prefer to be indoors most of the time but alas, the Philippines being a tropical country we can`t really avoid the sun, we can only protect ourselves and our love ones from it`s harmful rays. Over exposure to the sun can lead to at least melanin damage that will cause premature aging or at the scariest skin cancer! To prevent this from happening I have accepted that I needed to use some form of sun protection other than an umbrella.

I may not look it but I am pretty picky about things. Being a Mom, I look for certain things when I am shopping for Sunblock, one it has to have the right SPF (Sun Protection Factor) suitable for my kids, two it has to be mildly to no scent since I have a very sensitive nose and I hate smelling like a coconut especially when I am not even near a beach and third it has to be non-sticky.

My daughter Raffy (14) is one of those kids that like to be outdoors, that is one reason she has taken up football and has been training and competing since last year.  On the other hand,  Jarod (12) likes the water, at home he even swims using a basin just to get his fill of soaking, even during mid-day. I always worry that their young skin will get irreparable damaged due to the long hours exposed to the harsh UV rays from the sun.

I myself am exposed to the everyday during my long commute to and from the office (4 hours total back and forth) to the rays of the sun.
